    Hand In Hand ABA

Services Designed for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children with Autism

Hand in Hand ABA was founded with a clear mission: to give Deaf and hard-of-hearing children with autism access to therapy that truly fits.
For years, families were told that ABA therapy “wasn’t a match” for Deaf children — or worse, they were offered services by teams who didn’t speak their child’s language.

As Deaf professionals, educators, and advocates, we saw the harm this caused. So we built something better.

We are the first and only ABA clinic in the world created exclusively for this community — and we’re just getting started.

  • Courtney Nohr | Climb Forward Behavior Solutions

Courtney has worked with individuals with diverse needs for nearly 20 years, including years as a special education teacher in school settings. She believes that meaningful behavior change happens gradually when the right motivation is in place. Her work is grounded in compassion-based behavior therapy, emphasizing understanding, respect, and collaboration rather than compliance alone.

A core focus of her work is increasing functional communication as a way to reduce challenging behaviors, ensuring individuals have effective ways to express their needs and emotions. The outdoors plays a key role in her approach, offering natural motivation and opportunities to gently stretch tolerance while helping individuals remain happy, relaxed, and engaged. She places a strong emphasis on family involvement, partnering closely with families to support growth that is consistent, meaningful, and sustainable across settings. Courtney is passionate about creating a supportive environment where growth feels achievable and positive.

  • Trek Outdoors

Providing and supporting the delivery of outdoor, integrated therapeutic edventures for children of all abilities.

TREK Outdoors emerged out of a grant funded, therapeutic forest school pilot program under AdventureMe Forest and Nature School in Black Forest, Colorado.  Upon seeing the benefits of an outdoor learning environment in children diagnosed with sensory processing disorder and autism, Tamara Wineland saw an opportunity to improve outcomes for children with additional needs through the formation of a more integrated and specialized delivery of forest school.  The first peer integrated sessions took place in the Fall of 2022, under the supervision of Regan Krimm, MOTR/L, and Lara Dykhuis, MA, CCC-SLP.

TREK Outdoors will carry on and expand the delivery of therapeutic forest edventures across the country through connection, mentorship, and funding for programs seeking to increase access to nature-based programs.
